People put all sorts of items down their toilets from seemingly harmless things like cotton buds and sanitary towels to bizarre things like oil, pills and false teeth!  These items contribute to over 25,000 blockages every year in the UK and cause property flooding and pollution.  So this new major campaign is launching in the press, the internet and on TV and the radio. It will shout Don’t Be a Loo Litterer! Pass it on.

Just like watts measure electricity, wetts measure water! One wett is equivalent to the average UK consumer's daily usage – 150 litres. Use our new hand-held wett calculator to help find out how much you're using. Did you know that a bath uses half a wett but a dishwasher only 0.1 wetts and the average washing machine uses 1 wett? With the new wett calculator it’s now super easy to compare your consumption with the average. Get calculating!

Come and see the fascinating cubic metre water installations in your locality. Artists have created sculptures that all have 1 cubic meter volume. There will be lots of information on water consumption to help us imagine how much water we use. A friend of mine always puts the coffee grounds down the loo after making a cafetiere. He says it's because he doesn't like the grounds in the sink...but is it bad to put them down the drains at all? I tend to just put them in the bin, but haven't really given it much thought.
