There are lots of people in the UK who don’t get involved in saving water. This challenge is to identify ways that water saving can be made more fun and involving for those that don’t prioritise water.

Have a read of these concepts to see if these ideas meet that brief. Would these approaches encourage YOU to think about water...and why? How could they be improved? How could you imagine them working in a practical sense - if at all? Can you provide a more catchy title? Please VOTE and COMMENT on these ideas to make them the best they can be.

Be lazy and save water! This campaign is to be broadcast on radio stations in the morning across the nation.  The idea is that you lie in bed, luxuriating in guilt-free relaxation for 5 minutes longer than usual. Then, it’s a super-fast shower to make up the time and save water into the bargain!

Switch from paper bills to the new online water account. Check your water consumption and itemised billing status as often as you like. Access latest water news, information on how your water consumption is affecting your energy bills, how much water different appliances use and get ‘tap tips’ on how to reduce consumption. Compare your usage with the average in your area and track it over time. There are fun games for kids too!

Let’s celebrate our wonderful water resources once a year on UK Water Aware Day.  Every July 1st the water companies will use TV, radio, Internet and letters to promote awareness of this precious resource that we often take for granted. There will be celebrity endorsement plus competitions and sponsored challenges too. Raise money for water charities by going without non-drinking water for a day!
